Vintage 1929 Radio Atwater Kent Console
Atwater Kent Model 60 Screen Grid Receiver has seven tubes. This is a circa 1929 TRF radio (before superheterodyne) using screen-grid tubes (no neutralization required). There’s a “local-distant” switch on the front panel to manually cut the RF amp gain so that strong stations won’t overload the set. Broadcast-band AM only. Electrodynamic speaker, Power Supply is 120 volt 60 Hz, – AC operated was a new big deal back in 1929 – everything was battery operated before 1929.
Needs typical electrical restoration work. No apparent missing parts. AK spare parts for the model 60 can be easily found. Service directions and schematics are included with this.
Cabinet is Atwater Kent model AR1 walnut veneer with Birds Eye maple inside the doors. Finish is good on cabinet and fair on legs. Should be able to refinish easily
